Data Recovery Process

24 Hour Data utilizes a two-step recovery process for recovering data, and we keep you up-to-date on the status of your case every step of the way.

Starting a Data Recovery

To begin, click the "Data Recovery Form" link on our home page or just click HERE . Then fill out the form. Your information is perfectly secure on our network, which uses online best practices for personal information as recognized by TRUSTe , the leading Internet privacy services provider.

Recovery Process, Step One: Free Diagnostic

First send us your failed hard drive by following our shipping instructions or drop it off at our Plano location. Next, our trained technicians will assess the damage to your drive and email you WITHIN 24 HOURS with a free estimate and how much it should cost.

When you give us the go-ahead, we will immediately begin work at recovering your data . If for some reason you decline our service -- or if we feel we cannot successfully recover your data -- we will pay shipping to return your drive to you. That's part of our "No Data, No Charge" guarantee (not always applicable).

24 Hour Data is a manufacturer-approved firm, which means that when you let us break the seal to work on your hard drive or other media storage device, it won't void your manufacturer's warranty. This is especially important if your lost data was a result of a manufacturer's defect. We'll recover your lost data, and you can still return the drive to the company for a refund!

Recovery Process, Step Two: Recovering Your Data

Data retrieval falls into two categories: logical and physical recovery.

A logical recovery is a non-invasive approach to data recovery, and is required when the data itself has been damaged, yet the hard drive remains unharmed, mechanically.

Some causes of logical damage include:

  • power outages

  • system crashes

  • hardware issues

  • power surges

A logical recovery for our well-trained, experienced specialists varies widely on the type of storage media, the type of data, and many other factors. A difficult project could longer.

A physical recovery is necessary when the storage media device has experienced physical damage to its internal parts.  In order to achieve a 100% successful recovery, those damaged internal parts would need to be replaced inside of a clean room.  This process takes longer than a logical recovery.

In most cases of either logical or physical recovery, we will recover your data and return it to you as soon as possible. We also offer expedited service (72 hours or less, in most cases) at a greater rate.

24 Hour Data requires that you provide to us a new destination hard drive for the recovered files (referred to as return media).

Recovery Process, Step Three: Get Your Data

Through every step of the recovery process, we are available to answer any questions you may have. We offer 24/7 online and phone customer support, with real, knowledgeable 24 Hour Data customer service reps.

We know that when important data is lost, there's a lot at stake. It's our job at 24 Hour Data to not only recover your important files, but to keep you up-to-date on the status of the project and do everything we can to provide you with peace-of-mind until your device and files are safely back in your hands, where they belong.
